The History of AVEVA
AVEVA traces its roots to 1967, when the Cambridge Computer-Aided Design Centre began applying computing to plant design. Its PDMS software became an industry standard for 3D plant design, and the company later listed on the London Stock Exchange as AVEVA.
In 2018, it merged with Schneider Electric’s industrial software business, adding Wonderware and System Platform to its engineering portfolio and creating a single provider for the full asset lifecycle, from design to operations. Since then, AVEVA has expanded into cloud collaboration and digital twins with AVEVA CONNECT, and Schneider Electric completed full ownership of the company in 2023.
